Re: ER9x and an Arducopter.
IF everything is calibrated successfully with the mission planner program, it should arm ok. Also if the throttle trim on the 9x is set wrong you can't get it to 0 completely, so it wont arm.

Re: ER9x Telemetry Data
Thanks for the info! I gave up on getting HDG on mine. er9x, jd-ioboard, frsky. I looked at the Mavlink code, but didn't think to see what eepe shows. Might work on it again since I still can't tell which way I'm flying.

Re: GPS HEADING info on er9x/FrSky ANSWER!
About the time I finished this note I started thinking about trying to adjust the source code to do that. I saw the Heading data mentioned in the VFR_HUD portion and may get lucky. Still trying to figure out the "switch" in the source that kicks the program into the debug mode. Then I can ...

GPS HEADING info on er9x/FrSky ANSWER!
Remember all the chats about getting the HEADING on a er9x/FrSky? I 'knew' the answer all along but was too dumb to use the info that was in my head. A GPS does not have a compass! Sitting still it has NO IDEA of your HEADING. I looked thru the source code, which is way over my head, but found no in...

Re: Flashing without a programmer.
Glad you found the simple cable addition with pictures. I'm going to do it soon on my 2nd 9x.
Flying 2 quads one with 9x & one with er9x was too confusing.

Now that the reason student has been given 100 ways to get a programmer, now tell him what he has to do to a stock 9x to get the programmer connected.

Re: convert Mavlink (APM & MPNG) to Frsky
Sneezy, glad the timing delay worked. I'm going to use some spare X bees and saw the need for the delay. The only description of the Telemetry details is here in the forums, by the main software guru working on it, I think. Looking at the source code is too tuff to decode for me. I flew today and ne...

Re: convert Mavlink (APM & MPNG) to Frsky
It has the built in, & I have an external one coming. I'm sure the Heading display is just a software omission somewhere. I flew yesterday and kept it in the pasture WITHOUT the heading data. A first for me!

Re: convert Mavlink (APM & MPNG) to Frsky
Martin, thanks for the info & research. I did just read there is a delay parameter that can be set for Telemetry turn on (says to prevent probs with xBee telemetry). That may help. Also I don't quite understand the 'bootloader' in the "ioboard". I may have erased mine since I couldn't ...

Yep I loaded the. 05 Hex file for the ioboard/telemetry & picked up a couple more variables (RPM & fuel), but no heading.

Re: convert Mavlink (APM & MPNG) to Frsky
Sneezy, I had the similar problem once. I put a 680 ohm resistor between the D5 output & the RX input on the er9x & it works fine now. No knowledge on this, just followed the forum. :) What a "knowledge base" (??) we have here. :) Good luck. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Re: convert Mavlink (APM & MPNG) to Frsky
Mike & Kiawah may be 'on target' on this! Heading is probably not that essential to those who already know how to fly a Quad. :) I followed the forums about this feature and using my limited knowledge of C programming, I found reference to heading in the source code in all the related sources. H...

Re: convert Mavlink (APM & MPNG) to Frsky
Thanks for the idea/thought! If the data I'm looking for is FROM the GPS and not the APM compass you may be right. But there isn't a HEADING item in the er9x to choose. Mission planner does show a heading change on the ground. Meanwhile my plan is to launch from the MIDDLE of the pasture so I won't ...

Re: convert Mavlink (APM & MPNG) to Frsky
Whoops, some 'progress'. Installed ver. 5 and now I get RPM (1560) & FUEL (-1). :) No heading & no data changes as I rotate the quad. (I really miss my days as an experienced programmer & designer. Getting old + the new technology makes it tough) Thanks again. Bo Sent from my SCH-I545 us...

Re: convert Mavlink (APM & MPNG) to Frsky
Thanks for the response. I'm fairly sure 04a is the latest. Someone said the 05 listed wasn't for the Telemetry. I'll look at it again. The source code has Heading listed as one of the parameters, but is too complex for me to compile it myself.

Going crazy on this one. I cannot get the COMPASS HEADING to display. Tried using r804 & 808, and versions 03a & 04a of the hex files. GPS coords & more show, but nothing that looks like heading is available. Hookup questions. I have the APM telemetry TX connected to the 3dr telemetry (R...

Version 5 is available for the Mavlink Telemetry mod. Now to figure out which of the outputs is the compass heading. GPS coords work!

Re: GPS telemetry mod - not working
I think the JD IO board converts the Mavlink data coming from the APM (goes to the RF telemetry xmtr) and sends I to the DJT/FrSky receiver in FrSky format. I was wrong earlier.

Do you have D5 on JD-IO connected to TX line on the Receiver? What is on your er9x display? GPS, altitude

Re: GPS telemetry mod - not working
I'm using version v1.1915 r804, FrSky nt. I THINK the signal into the er9x receiver 'serial' port is TTL, & Mavlink protocol. I looked at it briefly on a scope, & saw 'activity', but need to recheck it's voltage levels. Others hooked it up with no problems. The 'expert' 's name is Christian,...

Re: GPS telemetry mod - not working
Sorry I was so vague with details. I followed the mods like the JD IO board, connected between the 3DR telemetry input and the Dx receiver (TX input, not A1 or A2). Used a $10 Arduino pro mini board instead. Followed all the steps, but the GPS chords & altitude do not display on the Turnigy er9x...

I added the little Arduino board, loaded the .hex file to provide GPS data to my er9x, but it is not displayed. First I only connected D5 to the TX line on the receiver. The A1, A2, & signal strengths display properly. Looking at the TX line with a scope shows a changing signal I see activity on...

er9x mode settings question
I did the recommended 6 flight mode setup for my quad for CH 5. The info had the CH6 line blank, & CH 7 set to TRN. No changes on CH 5 were noted but moving P1 adjusted the modes a bit. So I set CH 6 to 100% CH 5, with no switch. It works now but I wonder why I had to do it that way. Oh, the MIX...
