Re: Module and antenna question with new Turnigy 9XR

The time to point out design flaws is before a lot of money has been spent. I can't count how much money I've saved by listening to advice from others. Mos...

Re: Module and antenna question with new Turnigy 9XR

Sorry if I pissed anybody off. I just think it is a basic feature of a decent radio is that you be able to attach different antennas depending on your needs and budget. That makes an internal antenna that you can't change a very stupid design. I've also always found out that stock antennas are just ...

Re: Module and antenna question with new Turnigy 9XR

That's twice as many coax runs and connectors as most TX modules, and the runs are longer. (you don't count the act...

You can't really think that people are so dead set on using that crappy internal antenna that they quit buying modules with their radios. > The stupidity isn't in the design. Re: Module and antenna question with new Turnigy 9XR

You should certainly be careful that any modifications don't cause interference for anybody. But using better antennas is far better than using more power IME. As far as the law is concerned... I've never had a cop trying to check the FCC ID numbers on my radio. I've also never heard of or read abou...

Re: Module and antenna question with new Turnigy 9XR

Do you have any antenna recommendations? I've found that buying cheap Chinese antennas is a total crapshoot.

If you look at the antennas on ebay or HK most of them seem to have ridiculous dBi claims.

Not really an "sides" to argue, the scientific evidence is clear. There's no danger.

Re: Module and antenna question with new Turnigy 9XR

> What other radio system uses a different antenna than this? Most radios have a weak, cheap antenna that comes with them so people can use them out of the box. If you're serious the first thing you'll do is throw that one in your junk box and screw on a real antenna. That's all those antennas are m...

Re: Module and antenna question with new Turnigy 9XR

All the hype with the 9XR about how they listened to the RC community and developers.... and nobody told them it was a stupid idea to include a c**p internal antenna? Pretty obvious you should have a connector or just let the actual TX have the antenna. I think the new design is even further in the ...

Re: Turnigyh 9x + FrSky Telemitry + Amplifier??

There's just no reason to worry. Radio waves stream through you constantly at all frequencies. The only danger ever found with non-ionizing radiation like this is from heating. I've done a little research in this area since people are constantly wanting to use microwaves for sterilization. I have to...

Re: Turnigyh 9x + FrSky Telemitry + Amplifier??

LOL, you can put your tin hat away. RF energy has been studied much more extensively than probably anything else you're exposed to. Non-ionizing radiation like 2G/microwaves have no health issues. Your only danger from them is being exposed to the point that you're actually heated to a lethal temper...

Re: RPM sensor

In my other thread it was mentioned that you should be able to just directly connect the hall sensor to the sensor hub. It seems to be expecting two pulses per rev, so I imagine you'd just use two magnets.

Re: CDI/Engine telemetry using 9X and FRSky telemetry...

I haven't done anything with the temp yet. I have a few temp sensors laying around, but will probably start looking for a good one. Most people using the CDI right now are using them on conversion engines. Mostly small 2-stroke weed whipper engines. I've got a Honda GX-35 clone (4-stroke) and a Home...

Re: CDI/Engine telemetry using 9X and FRSky telemetry...

Awesome! That's exactly what I was looking for! It looks like I can just use the sensor hub protocol and the 9X firmware can already handle the rest. This should make things pretty easy! Monitoring the CDI battery is also a feature I forgot to mention, but it looks like that will work out well also!...

Re: CDI/Engine telemetry using 9X and FRSky telemetry...

Thanks, that sounds like an easy way to go. But I only ordered just the DJT TX/RX module combo. I'm not really familiar with the different hardware options yet. My ideas on how to approach things are only from what features I have though of for the CDI. I'd like to have RPM and engine temp. Right no...

CDI/Engine telemetry using 9X and FRSky telemetry...

Hello everyone! My first real post here, so introduction is in order. I've been working with a CDI ignition project on RCU. The hardware works great, but needs some improvements in availability and documentation. I've written the software for the CDI. It currently runs on a PIC 12F683 or 12F1840. I ...

Re: RPM sensor

I'm working on a CDI project at the moment, so I've done all this. Using a Hall sensor is very easy and by far the best way to do what you want. You can check out the project thread here... (I know it's really long) http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10662258/tm.htm My website is here... (Project pag...
