Re: New feature: PPM servos settings

It's certianly been a journey this limits/centre discussion ! Points above understood Mike. (The curve word was used as that's how you would simulate the procedure in open9x, poor choice). You right it's linear, just a different coefficient each side. I prefer either my centre point and limits to mo...

Re: New feature: PPM servos settings

Add 10% right sub-trim, full left stick still gives -100%, the limit is scaled to 110%, full right stick gives +100%, the limit is scaled to 90%. This means that the relationship between stick and servo is different each side of centre ? It's compressed or expanded ? It's applying it's own curve to...

Selecting which option you want in the makefile isn't rocket science either. It's clear some people prefer this new method.

At least with this feature you would get the choice, which ultimately is all it boils down.

Re: New feature: PPM servos settings

The pot shaft has a D on it, and 5 not mounted right, all of differing age and all the same mis-alignment. Also the pot legs are retained between a moulding in the case. It doesn't stack up well for 5 flukes. It's also happy on 1600us with the extended limits. But it is a fair concern, as I mentione...

Re: New feature: PPM servos settings

Quote from HiTec http://www.hitecrcd.com/files/Servomanual.pdf Yup read it a few days ago, but it still doesn't change what I have seen. Granted one could be faulty, but I have tried 5x HS81's now, all centre @ 1600us. Hitec as a range however appears distictly variable. Found a few @ 1600us (mostl...

Re: New feature: PPM servos settings

I think the common denominator here is extended limits, this is the more dangerous of the features being discussed (and least standard) and it's the reason I looked more closely at my servo centres. Not that I advocate removing it.

Re: New feature: PPM servos settings

So why then does my Multiplex Evo have an option to output at 1600us and 1500us centres? Also I just tried another HS-81 which is to hand and the result was the same. You are right receivers need to be considered also when checking this, that said I have never had a problem with my Evo and I have us...

Re: New feature: PPM servos settings

You don't need to take the top off all of them, just know what manufactures centre where. For a start Hitec @ 1600us. Maybe it's a little over the top but I always have a little check inside servos of a brand I haven't used before. This function matters more for me on some of the servos with a lesse...

Re: New feature: PPM servos settings

I know this feature is a double edged sword, but with some servos running them at the wrong centre PWM rate runs a risk of overdriving them, see attached photos. The HS-81 with half a final gear is a big risk. Also Multiplex EVO's already have this feature (although it is a switch between 1500us and...

I did see your post here http://www.rc-cam.com/forum/index.php?/topic/3827-er9x-hacks/page__st__60 I would love to be able to perform the same test on my Futaba module to check how it's effected by the voltage drop off. I thought it easier to obtain the original th9x module, but that's looking trick...

TH9X 35Mhz Module

Has anyone got a 35Mhz module kicking about for the TH9X or any clue where to get one ? Tried eBay, Hobbyking, and Google without success. I have already hacked a Futaba module in but the set is on 6 NiMh cells so it will do doubt be a little below par. Tried eBay without success. Failing the genuin...

Re: Next version ...

The Futaba startup problems were noticed by me. I have the FASST TM-7 module and if it doesn't receive a valid PPM stream very quicky (I haven't measured it) after power up it will not work. This is an odd behaviour because once it has initilized you can remove and re-apply the PPM signal and it doe...

Re: open9x/gruvin board

We could have another mixer option, diff-assign. This cycles though a list of other channels with none zero differential settings. If something is picked from this list the differential value for that mixer is no longer user editable, and is copied from the mixer in question. The list could also inc...

Re: open9x/gruvin board

It would be nice to have one place to adjust the differential figure for both surfaces, this gets even more useful the more surfaces you have. It would also allow it to become flight trimable via one of the encoders.

Just a thought.

Re: Switching TX-Module

(1dB seems to cost you around 260 meters) This you can't say, because it depends "where that dB is". Yes, your dead right. I should have worded that much better. 1dB off 18dB costs 260 meters (ish). But again other variables like receiver sensitivity could alter this a lot. I use an HP859...

Re: Switching TX-Module

I know things have moved on but..... I have been doing a bit more research and the correct way to handle dBm to dB mathematics is straight out addition or subtraction. So 18dBm - 5dB = 13dBm, my apologies Kilrah. As I said I'm not an expert, and from the fact no one pulled me on this I'm guessing no...

Your old mate the relay would be fine for switching the supply voltages, even a P-FET and an NPN transistor as currently drives the LED back light would be fine (take or leave the fuse).

Re: Switching TX-Module

You do know dB and dBm are different, dB is dimensionless, and dBm is referenced to mW. So your 18dBm module is about 1.4dB up on your 13dBm module, not 5dB. Does your dBm meter have a calib cert or is it of Chinese origin like the modules it's measuring ? You know about reflections, interference pa...
