any suggested reading on getting started?

I'm currently using a PCTx from endurance rc http://www.endurance-rc.com/pctx.php and a Spektrum dx6 to control a drone from a pc over usb. With the open source firmware i'm wondering if someone else has already accomplished this on a Taranis. If it can remove the need for the PCTx i'd gladly buy a ...
