Re: 9XR-PRO Hacks and Fixes

Well I gave up in this project... I can't find the short and since the radio is now extinct I decided to go with a taranis x9d plus.

Re: 9XR-PRO Hacks and Fixes

when I plug the Transmitter up to my computer without holding down any of the switches or buttons, the computer only shows the Drive Ersky_9x (H): with Firmware and ERSKY9X as file inside said drive. Removable Drive (G): won't mount the SD Card. when I try to open it I get an error message saying to...

It looks like the processor is running then, the PC asking for drivers for "SAM-BA" mode is normal. Please confirm by "RADIO board" you mean the firmware and EEPROM drive appears but the SD card does not appear as a drive. For the display, I suggest checking each of the LCD sign...

Re: 9XR-PRO Hacks and Fixes

... Have you tried connecting the USB to your computer, holding the "trainer" switch (spring loaded switch) on, then powering on? This should start the radio in the SAM-BA boot mode that runs from internal processor ROM. Your computer should detect a USB device. This is a test to see if t...

Re: 9XR-PRO Hacks and Fixes

Sorry, I've been a bit busy. Are you measuring between J3-2 and J3-9 with the connector unplugged? Try removing R22 completely and see if the radio powers up OK. Have you removed ALL the mods you did, including the connections to the expansion connector? Mike R22 removed no change 1.661 volts betwe...

What are my options here

Lifted the 3.3v regulator, still have short between J3-2 and J3-9... No visual signs of a short on the processor.

So my options appear to me at this point in time:
1) buy a new transmitter
2) find a replacement 9xrpro to rob a main board from
3) an alternative replacement board...

Re: 9XR-PRO Hacks and Fixes

Thanks Mike... I have been thinking of desoldering R22... On the expansion bus, I have my multimeter set to Ω, black lead to GRND, then red lead to the following: 3.3v - 2.29Ω D2 - 7.88 MΩ D6 - 7.80MΩ D7 - 7.77MΩ Edit: results of removing the J connectors Mike B mentioned. With J2, J3, J4, and J5 di...

I noticed that the ground wire for the switches got real hot and melted the insulation in a few spots... But I all switches are OL when off or 0.00Ω when on (except for the 3 pos switch that has the 1kΩ resistor it measures 1kΩ

Re: 9XR-PRO Hacks and Fixes

All mods disconnected, all switches disconnected i still get 0.00Ω between 3.3v and ground and if you're saying between pin 2 and r22 that is 2.2Ω or 0.00Ω depending on Wich side of the resistor I measure.

oops, my bad Mike... I do have the switch grounds running to J3-9... the upper most pin on the left hand (right hand if facing from bottom)...

when I flip SW1, middle (off) I get 81, then flip switch either up or down and I get 82... going to try and bridge R22 and see what that does.

Re: 9XR-PRO Hacks and Fixes

Thanks Mike and Joao, Your answers make perfect sense in theory. Lets say I convert 2 of the existing 2 way switches to 3 position switches, do I NEED a resister for one of said switches, both, or no resister at all? Once done there, how do I add 4 push button switches? Am I going to need to add res...

Re: 9XR-PRO Hacks and Fixes

Are you looking for more switches, or to change existing switches to 3-position? There are 4 digital inputs available, the DAC1 signal, which may be used directly, and the three LCD signals (LCD2, LCD6 and LCD7), which all need a 3K9 resistor in series. If you just want extra switches, then use PB1...

Re: Using FrSky S6R with ersky9x

1. Your backwards-spinning motor sounds like you need to swap two (any two of the three) wires from the motor to the ESC -- nothing to do with the S6R, I think. The rest of your control surface issues are straight S6R configuration changes, not really ErSky9x with S6R issues -- see my URL recommend...
