Re: Asking for completely off-topic assistance
Kilrah, "You can see it right at the bottom of the page." Ah, yes - thanks - though it took a while checking "Board index", "The pickled Gnu", then finally, I spotted it. Would it have run against the grain to simply say phpBB? DeaconFlyer - thanks for the encouragement...

Re: Can't make Inactivity alarm work
Thanks, Mike. I see now that "Volume" is slightly indented, showing subordination to Inactivity alarm on the line above.
I hadn't noticed that before, and had supposed that it would turn everything down.

Asking for completely off-topic assistance
I have recently joined a model flying club that could profit a great deal by having a web site. I'm into computers and programming - though it has always been "close to the hardware" - I have never built a web site before. I've started learning HTML and CSS, and getting some ideas together...

Re: Can't make Inactivity alarm work
Thanks Joao, I have downloaded and installed the voice pack. I don't know what I'll do with it yet, but I'm learning and experimenting, so I'll no doubt use it before too long.

Re: Can't make Inactivity alarm work
Mike, I created a System directory in the voice directory and copied 0045.wav into it, and renamed it to INACTV.wav - and now, it works. I think I'll look for something that is less likely to give me a heart attack if I leave the transmitter on - but thanks for the pointer. That was all I needed. Mi...

Re: Can't make Inactivity alarm work
I've just been listening to the voice files.
0045.wav seems to be the one that I recall having been used as the alarm. It makes a noise like an emergency vehicle. It is the only .wav file that is not recorded in human voice.

Re: Can't make Inactivity alarm work
Mike, I have just looked at a backup that I did some time ago. This was the first time I put the SD card into my PC - certainly before I made the new voice file, (because it isn't there on the backup), and there is no system directory there either.

Re: Can't make Inactivity alarm work
Ah! There are lots of wav files in voice, but there is no voice/system directory. The only other file in there is a 7K file entitled .DS_Store I recorded a new voice file recently - "Maximum throttle", so in doing that, I guess I must have somehow lost the System directory. Can I get it ba...

Can't make Inactivity alarm work
My inactivity alarm doesn't work. What have I overlooked? There have been a few times recently when I have inadvertently left the transmitter switched on for quite a long time (> 1 hour), so I want to make the inactivity alarm work. 9Xr Pro - Software version : V3527-Mike I know some of these are ir...

Re: Bind problem on one of two X8R's
Thank you, Mike, it looks simple enough. In the diagram, is that "Sport device", indicating what kind of device we are talking about, or is it three pins for "Sport" and three for "Device"? If the former, what are the six pins? Assuming the latter, is it OK to supply po...

Re: Bind problem on one of two X8R's
Thanks Mike,
Can you tell me where to get the necessary hardware to flash firmware? (USB-to-SmartPort cable)
Ideally, I don't want to wait for postage from the far East. Is there a wiring diagram somewhere?

Re: Bind problem on one of two X8R's
Hi Folks, I think I have answered my own question. I found this video ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnDTJ0bwG2E It shows that both lights come on solid when the X8R is powered on with the bind switch - so my receiver is not faulty. I'm pretty sure now that my problem is firmware. The only ques...

Bind problem on one of two X8R's
Folks, I have a 9XR Pro with FrSky-XJT module and X8R receiver. Everything works just peachy! I am building a new model, and bought a new X8R, but I can't make it bind, and I'd like your advice. The vendor says that they flash new firmware onto them before dispatch, and indeed, I have read that ther...

Re: Please explain Trainer mode
Joao, you said "It's normal for people to think the way you did. This can be a bit confusing sometimes" I went to the club today, and four experienced pilots, including the guy who lent me a Tx to sort it out, all assumed, as I had, that it would be the student Tx that would transmit. One ...

Re: Please explain Trainer mode
It seems, then, that the function was set up more with a school in mind, where the teacher has a plane which he allows the student to control. So in my case (student who wants to fly his own plane with an experienced pilot as trainer), I should set my transmitter, which is bound to the plane, as the...

Please explain Trainer mode
NOTE: The explanation below was a misconception. This is NOT how the trainer scenario works. ====== I'm having difficulty setting up the training mode on two transmitters - a 9xr Pro (the student transmitter) and a 9xr (the trainer's buddy box) Please correct me if my understanding of the scenario i...

Re: Newbie question about FrSky telemetry
I have figured out how to set PXX, so now, I guess I have to detect any incoming telemetry and link it to a voice message. I'll get there. More reading required. Just to let you know, I set up a range test that worked better. I made a setup with the Rx with battery and BEC, controlling a servo that ...

Re: Newbie question about FrSky telemetry
My thanks to Mike and Bob, My motor is specified at 420W, and for a 3S battery, so with a nominal 12V, I guess its maximum current is 35A. I don't believe the other electronics will amount to more than a couple of hundred mA. Bob, I'm guessing that SWR isn't Standing Wave Ratio, but whatever it is, ...

Newbie question about FrSky telemetry
Yesterday, I flew a RC model for the first time in my life. I'm just telling you that to highlight what a noob I am. The model I flew is one that I built, and to fly it, I have been on a spending spree, and accumulated a bit of equipment. I didn't have anything before, so motors, servos, transmitter...

Re: Probably a FBKC fault
Folks, I think this issue is at an end. As a resolution, I personally arranged a replacement item to be sent. Your new replacement o...

Sorry Folks, I screwed up somewhat. I updated yesterday, but the update went onto a new page, and I didn't notice. I didn't think it had been accepted, so I made the same update again today. However, I have just seen that Mike already replied to my question yesterday. I see now that the EEPROM is no...

No, I didn't have it running. It never crossed my mind that it would make a difference to the mass storage device being seen as valid or not by the PC. However, I have just tried it now, with Eepskye running in the foreground, and the results are the same - USB device not recognised. I asked the que...

Re: Probably a FBKC fault
Guys, I've noticed something. It seemed to me that the USB connection was partly working. When it is plugged in and the transmitter turned on, it comes up in boot mode, so it seems to know the USB is connected. If the tabs are held in when the transmitter is switched on to bring it up in boot mode, ...

Re: Probably a FBKC fault
Gentlemen, I've just noticed something. When you press the iron cross left, it shows the Radio Setup menu display. One of the items in the right-hand column is EEPROM. If I select it by pressing the Menu button, it says "Disabled". Is that normal? Pressing Menu again does not invite me to ...
