Frsky Receivers Hidden Feature

Post by jhsa »

We were having a discussion on RCG about the failsafe system on the frsky receivers. If you forget to set the failsafe, and when link is lost, most of them hold the last servo position.. well, we were debating it, some saying that it should stop the pulses because then the ESC would stop the motors.. then, after a few pages and when we agreed that maybe the pulses should be stopped, Chase Wu from frsky came up with something that apparently no one new.. not even chase..
If you set failsafe with the transmitter off, then turn the receiver off and then all on again (tx and rx), if the link is lost, the receiver stops sending pulses to the different channels.. I tested on the oscilloscope and in fact that is what happens..
This can make lots of multirotor and FPV people very happy because of the autoland an return home features that sometimes need to see no pulses to become active..

This is where Chase Wu makes the announcement of this feature..
Scroll a bit down.. You might want to read a couple of pages before to check what we were talking about..
