Hi, I am replying to my own question. I discovered that I had the CrossTrim setting set to ON in the Txs SETTINGS / Controls menu. Turning that OFF solved the problem The flexibility of er9x is amazing but can be full of traps for new players like myself.

:D How are you powering the slave radiio? Don't turn the power switch on. Just connect the trainer cable to it with the power switch off. The radio will turn on and will send ppm on the trainer port.
