Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Awfully quiet here  Well, somer is definitely over so no more flying with the v911 till spring. But this brings the s107 in the picture again and I was wondering about any progress on the IR-project. Not that I need anything changed in the sketch, it is just fine for me but I know (read on yo...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Thanks for thinking along but it is not the gears because the motors just stop: complete silence and sometimes they spin back up before it hits the ground. So you think the battery should be close as possible to the middle? I more or less tried to place it to the front because of forward speed. Will...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Ok, pin-11 is fine with me (now). :) Yesterday I flew again and now it is clear the glitching is only on one heli. This is a new one and does it also when using a original TX so there is nothing wrong with the IRmodule. Héh, this sketch is great! /OffTopic Somewhere I made a wrong decision: I rebuil...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Hows the carbon fiber heli look when complete? Hard to tell from the shop photo . Hows it fly ? Are you happy with it ? I cannot make a better picture than on http://shop.carbonfibers107.com/main.sc although those heli's do look branded to me; not original Syma. Also a few nice pictures on http://w...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Great version! No more channel-B problem and no more 'sticking' throttle. I flew four batteries on two different (my carbon fiber heli is ready!) chopters. Sometimes on channel A and some of the time on channel-B and mostly together with a second heli in the air. No channel-problems whatsoever. I di...

Thank you for all the work.
Cool, so in de US Fathers day is at the same time as in the Netherlands. In our neighbouring country of Belgium it is on another day....
I'm going the test today and will let you know asap.

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
This is not my picture and not my TX but mine is identical. But this connector is for the TX and not for the Arduino. Already thought about adding a second one but then I also have to integrate the FTDI-board. Well, maybe later...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Yes, that will cover all bugs (except any new ones, haha). No, it is not a problem to move the output pin. I'm happy to test the new sketch for you. I will try to leave the usb-cable connected somehow for a while. Maybe make a small notch on the edge of the casing and roll-up the cable on the back o...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
The latest revision should be v.08 although it says v.07 in the sketch. The real v.07 was the best rev so far. It still amazes me that I'm able to fly the s107 with the 9X, just great. The carbon-kit has been out there for a while but it is relatively expensive. Well, compared to the total cost of t...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Now I'm in trouble :( My son keeps asking me to come and fly with him and I never want to go back to the original TX. So my question is, do you know when you have time to look at the code (sorry: sketch)? I should have listened to you when you asked me how to connect to the Arduino now it is build i...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Hi, whow already a month later! Haven't been flying much and today I had some time to try your latest fix. Well, some good and some bad news.... The good news is that the channel-B 'problem' is fixed. I can start IRmodule on B and 'bind' and start another (original) set on channel-A without a proble...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Showing the Arduino inside the TX with the extra swich for routing the ppm-signal between the module-bay-connector and the Arduino as well as switching power between those two. On the right side of the Arduino you can see the FET with current-limiting resistor. The LED's are in the top-half of the T...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Hi, about the test you requested: •use 2 original syma tx. one on channel A and the other on channel b. both are turned off. •turn on the first heli •turn on one of the TX. •Get that heli in the sky, or at least have the throttle off zero so the IRLed is sending, •turn on the second heli. ( at this ...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Wow, you are fast! • issue one: No problem for me to use channel-B. That is working fine. • issue two: Hope to try this week but am a bit busy with a bit larger project: 1:1 electric boat that 'has to' work next weekend because of son's holiday. • question one: Yes, absolutely positive they both hav...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Hmm, sorry, I'm a bad beta-tester. Found another small problem. When the IRmodule is started on channel-A the throttle does not return to zero immediate after the stick is pushed back. The motor keeps running for another two seconds. Just discovered this now because I always use channel-B because th...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Yes, first one IRmodule with a heli on channel-B and then one standard TX with a heli on channel-A. The first set binds fine but the original set cannot bind until the IRmodule is switched off. It just doesn't do anything until the IRmodule is off and then only the second heli has to power-cycle to ...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Good to see that the project is going on! If I needed to start over I would have a look at the Arduino Nano because it already has a USB-mini port on the board. If it is possible to find a position to make use of that it would make things a little easier. Found a, very small, little quirk: if the IR...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
My apologies for the late reply but first had to complete the transplant from the LED's to the TX and now the arduino is also inside. All together wih the extra led and a toggle switch to choose between ir and rf. Version 0.7 seems a succes :D Everything works, no hick-ups or channel changing. I hav...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
@rperkins Hi Randy, when flying on channel-B it happened a few times now that the heli would not respond anymore. What actually happens is that the TX switched to channel-A  and the other heli (my son's) started to react, and crash  To rule out it was caused by my additional code for the...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
C4vette, When you complete this project, (when you get it into your 9x), maybe you could put in the Wiki! I may try to get the same working for the Drift King and some other brand IR helis. I will have to learn more about the arduino before starting. Thanks for the work, although it looks as though...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Did a small edit in the sketch for the LED. It bothered me that the LED was not on when the program was running. And to be honest, yesterday I didn't succeed in reversing on/off situation. The next mornig it was clear to me :) and now the function of the LED is as follows: - is on as soon as sketch ...

No credits needed, just helping out where I can. Besides, the LED was your idea and I just Googled some code together. I'm no developer, just a little experience with scripting (bash, html, etc). Too bad there are not more people joining this topic. I think the project worked out great and is not ha...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Ok, did my best on the sketch for the functionality of the LED. - It shows the channel during startup (small problem though....) - It is off when throttle is idle - It blinks when throttle is not idle (no "delay()") about the small problem: because you preferred A0 with active=LOW the LED ...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Thanks for this. The sketch is loaded and the LED works. But now the real functionality....... No hurry :) still have to decide what next. Although I'm pretty sure I'm going to scavange the original TX for it's LED's and put everything inside. Also because I'm never going to use the original TX anym...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
About pointing to this thread: your project really deserves it! Well, a while back you mentioned: Last thing I was thinking was a feedback to the user . I'm thinking a good old led. It wont use too much power will it ? I was thinking it will be on when your not transmitting and blink when you are. A...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
I added some delays in the sketch when the throttle is at 0 to allow elevator control until heli is landed. Does ELE even work when throttle is at 0? Would have to check but I think not. Will put it on my list for things to check. Also tried to account for when throttle is set to 0 for just a secon...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
One word: awesome 8-) After loading the new version of the sketch and putting throttle back from -95 to -100 (Limits) I checked with a normal LED and saw the led go off after a few seconds. Then replaced the LED back for the ir-LED and replaced the 100-ohm resistor for an 18-ohm resistor (still caut...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Did a little surgery on the original TX and discovered that the three LED's are in series with a 1.8 ohm resistor driven by a transistor. The six AA's deliver 9volts. That gives a max. current of (9-3*1.5)/1.8 = 2.5 Amps :o  Woah, no wonder they look MUCH brighter through a camera and give mu...

Re: Continued-Infrared module for JR compatible TX, includin
Hi, the whole stuff is on a small board now in the JR-slot. Looks a bit like yours now :) Even flown the heli for a bit but the range is not good. At the moment there is just one LED in use. It is now switched by a FET with a 100 ohm resistor. If the Vfwd is about two volts (didn't check...) then th...
